Chat[]
The new chat box with swear words (names blurred out for privacy).
The old chat box in Bedwars (names blurred out for privacy).
The chat is a way (and currently, one of the few ways) for players to communicate with others in game modes. In game modes where players are divided into teams, they can choose whether to send a team message (only your team members will receive the message) or global message (everyone in the lobby can receive it).
The game can detect whether you included profanities in your messages, or tried to modify them to bypass the filter, and will censor them with five asterisks.
Tips/DYKs[]
Tips (or Do-You-Knows) are messages that appear in the chat periodically about tips to play the game better. You can enable or disable Tips by typing //toggletips in the chat.
Layout[]
The Chat Box used to be a dark gray box surrounding the texts players sent, but now it is a small gray rounded square surrounding each separate comment players make.
How to use[]
PC:[]
Use the T key to send a message.
Mobile:[]
There is a small speech bubble under the messages on the chat. Click on the speech bubble and use the on-screen keyboard to send a message in the chat.
Features[]
You can type messages to other players and use commands in the Chat. If you type /help, a text will appear listing all the possible commands except for World Owner commands. Typing /ownerhelp will show all World Owner exclusive commands. You can use //help to show all WorldBuilder commands. Most mobile players cannot use Chat commands though.
The Chat also shows who joins, leaves and Combat Logs.
Tribes[]
Open World[]
If you click tab or the World button (🌐), you will enter a mode where you can send messages to players only in your tribe. This can be useful in many situations, such as if a player is chasing you and you need help from trustworthy players.
Hide and seek[]
Instead of sending texts to your Tribe, you have the ability to send messages to World, or Seeker/Hider. It is not recommended to send any type of message regarding your location, because if the players who you were chatting to get found, they can go to your location and kill you.
How to Report Spamming[]
Click on the spam message they sent, and an option menu will appear, select the Report button, and choose Spamming Chat. A Bloxd moderator will then view the report to check if it looks real, if they think so, they will then ban or mute the player who got reported for 24 hours. If you are the owner of the World, then kick them or ban them from your world.
Other-Colored Messages[]
Joining[]
When a player joins a server, a message will show saying "[username] joined". This feature is in every gamemode, even secret ones. If you are the world owner and you join your world, it says "Welcome to your world. See all owner-only commands using /ownerhelp." It is possible to abuse the chat by leaving and joining a World multiple times (spamming), but you will get a kick or a ban.
Leaving[]
When a player joins or leaves a lobby, a message will appear in everyone’s chat, saying “[username] joined” or “[username] left" respectively.
Repeatedly sending the same message[]
If you try to send the same message two or more times, the message “Don't send the same message multiple times" will appear to prevent spamming.
Editing Code Blocks[]
When you write code in a Code Block that is placed for the first time, the message “Successfully created Code Block” will appear. When you change the code in a Code Block, a message will say "Successfully updated Code Block". If there is an error in the code, an error message will appear in the chat along with the previous message.
Usernames/Tribes[]
Other player's tribes and usernames will also show in a different color than the text they sent.
Protectors[]
When you enter another player or tribe’s protected chunks, the message "Entering [username]'s protected chunk” will appear on the screen. If you try to place or break blocks in the protected chunks, the message "Chunk protected by [ player name ] )" will appear. If you leave a protected chunk, the message “Leaving [Username]’s protected chunk” will appear. When you enter or leave your protected chunk, the chat will say "Entering/Leaving your protected chunk."
Codes[]
Code Blocks can be used to broadcast messages in the chat, create custom commands or change the appearance of words in the chat.
Censoring[]
Profanities, or profanities that are modified in an attempt to bypass the profanity filter, in the chat will be blocked and replaced with five asterisks (*****).
Unrecognised Command Errors[]
When you type a unrecognised command, an error will show in the chat.
Disadvantages[]
- Certain words from other languages may sound like profanities and be censored, and English words that are not profanities but sound like it/contains letters in a sequence that resembles profanities are blocked too.
Trivia[]
- "FAQ" is censored as it sounds like the f-word, and this is the same for “DYK” as it sounds like “dick”.
- The chat UI has been changed many times in late 2024, but not so much in older times.
- Some commands, such as
/setspawn, only work if you type them in the Chat. - If you try to change something in a protected chunk, a message will pop up saying you can't change blocks in protected chunks.
- You can’t send links or type links in the chat or a message will pop up saying you can’t send links.
- In the past, there used to be a [L] before player names who were logged in.
