Death happens when your health reaches 0, or when you fall into the Void.
Ways to die[]
You can lose health and die from the following events:
- Being attacked by other players or mobs
- Touching Spikes for long periods, or touching Kill Spikes
- Staying in Lava (without riding an Obsidian Boat) for too long
- Falling into the Void
- Falling from great heights (if fall damage is enabled in worlds or custom games)
- Pressing on “Press to Damage” boards where all your health is depleted
- Using the /kill command in One Block
- Dying from custom game mechanics created by Code Blocks
- Combat logging (leaving the lobby immediately after being damaged)
Effects of Dying[]
- The death screen appears (see below for more information)
- You will lose half of your Aura XP levels
- If dropping items after death has been enabled in the lobby, your inventory will also be emptied and your items will drop at where you died.
Death Screen[]
When you die, the death screen will appear with two buttons, “Respawn” and “Exit Game” (both are self-explanatory). A “Play Again” button can be also found in certain gamemodes. There is a 3-second cooldown after you die before you can use the buttons. However, Last Stand has a 10-second cooldown instead of 3.
Advertisements will also appear on the death screen if you do not have the Super Rank.
Spectating[]
In some game modes, there is a “spectate” option on the death screen where you can spectate other players. However, you cannot interact with anything while spectating.
Respawn-only death screen[]
In certain game modes there is only the message “Respawning in (number of seconds)” on the death screen. After the countdown ends, you will respawn and join back the game.
Respawning[]
You will be teleported back to your last saved Spawn Point when you clicked on the “respawn” button. The spawn point can be:
- Beds
- Checkpoint Blocks
- Lobby spawn (coordinates 0, 0, 0) (if you did not save a spawn point on any of the above)
Gallery[]
Bugs[]
- For mobile players, they can drag on the screen to control the camera after the death screen appears. This is not supposed to happen.
- Players are supposed to be “immobilised” when they die. However, you can still see your camera moving if you die while moving at fast speeds.
