Families[]

Families are groups of fishes that look similar to each other.

Fishes in Fishing in first release[]

Moonfish[]

Family - Moonfishes, Orbfish

The Moonfish can be sold for 283 coins each. However, Moonfishes are very rarely caught. It resembles a piece of moonstone, in both the shape and colour.

Moon Strongfish[]

Family - Moonfishes, Strongfishes

The Moon Strongfish is can be sold for 56 coins each. It has the colour of moonstones. Just like other Strongfishes, it resembles a bird.

Oarfish[]

Family - Pointfish, Driftfish

The Oarfish can be sold for 102 coins each. It looks like a wider version of the Root Flounder Fish with the exception that it is brown in color. This fish is also only the unstackable fish that can be obtained.

Bombfish[]

Family - Miscellaneous, Grayfish, Orbfish

The Bombfish can be sold for 30 coins each. It resembles a bomb.

Green Strongfish[]

Family - Strongfish, Vinefish

The Green Strongfish can be sold for 27 coins each. It resembles a bird like other strongfishes. It is very commonly caught in certain parts of the map, like the red strongfish.

Boomerang Fish[]

Family - Boomerang Fish, Ray

The boomerang fish can be sold for 25 coins each. However, they are not as common as the red strongfish.

Red Strongfish[]

Family - Strongfish

The Red Strongfish are very common in certain parts of the map and be sold for 25 coins each, like the boomerang fish.

Root Flounder Fish[]

Family - Pointfish, Vinefish

The Root Flounder Fish can be sold for 19 coins each.

Wheatfish[]

Family - Plantfish

The wheatfish is is most common fish in Fishing and can only be sold for 12 coins each. The colour and shape of the Wheatfish resembles wheat.

Sandbelly Phirana[]

Family - Teethfish

The Sandbelly Phirana is one the new fishes added to fishing. It can be obtained by fishing in the waters around Gloomtide. Its appearance is of a piranha with a sand colored belly, hence its name.

Jungle Spinefish[]

Family - Vinefish, Needlefish

The Jungle Spinefish is another fish that can be obtained from fishing at the beach of Gloomtide. It appears to look like a needlefish, but brown in colour and covered in seaweed

Mangler Catfish[]

Family - Catfish

The Mangler Catfish is a fairly common fish with 1/4 chance of being caught, and can be fished at Gloomtide. It looks like a more square-shaped fish, with multiple whiskers on the bottom of its mouth.

Electric Eel[]

Family - Eels

The Electric Eel can be fished in Gloomtide near the pirate ship. It is dark blue with stripes of light blue on its body.

Mossback Arapaima[]

Family - Rockfish, Vinefish, Strongfish, Teethfish

The Mossback Arapaima is one of the more detailed fishes, and has a 1/4 chance to be caught in Gloomtide. It appears like a Boulder Bass with overgrown moss on its back, hence its name, and also has a more savage look to it, just like a leviathan.

Barnaclejaw[]

Family - Teethfish

The Barnclejaw is like a less aggressive and lethal leviathan, and has a 1/100 chance to be caught at the abandoned ship behind Gloomtide.

Shadeback Ray[]

Family - Ray

The Shadeback Ray is a fish obtained by fishing in the waters near the abandoned pirate ship in the back of Gloomtide. It looks like a dark grey stingray in the shape of a kidney. it is a rare catch, at 1 in 10.

Grass Snapper[]

Family - Plantfish, Vinefish

The Grass Snapper is a fish that can be caught at Sunhaven Island, at the meteor impact site. It has an appearance of a grass green coloured Wheatfish.

Boulder Bass[]

Family - Rockfish

The Boulder Bass is a fish which has a 1/4 chance of being caught near the coast of Sunhaven Island or the middle of the ocean. It looks similar to a Mossback Arapaima, but without the moss and teeth, and with a less aggressive look.

Darter[]

The Darter is a very common fish, with a 1/2 chance of being caught at Sunhaven Island or even the middle of the ocean. The look of the fish is similar to the Reef Sardine, but beige in colour.

Crystalized Wheatfish[]

Family - Plantfish, Needlefish

The Crystalized Wheatfish is an Ultra Rare fish, (1 in 25). It can be found in Sunhaven, commonly found at the Spectral Pond.

Aether Minnow[]

The Aether Minnow is a very common fish that can be caught at Eldermire, with a 50% chance of being caught. It has a look of a small, white fish, similar to the yang in the ying-yang symbol.

Rotslab Eel[]

The Rotslab Eel is a fish that can be caught at the shore of Eldermire. It has the same shape as an Electric Eel, but is brown in colour, similar to the colour of mud. It is very common, with a 1/2 chance.

Mudbelley Tilapia[]

The Mudbelly Tilapia has a 1/4 chance to be caught at Eldermire. It looks like a pretty standard, chubby fish, and is probably part of the same family as the Murk Stingray, the Mudline Perch, the Root Perch, and the Mangrove Herring.

Murkbrone Ray[]

Family - Ray

The Murkborne Ray is a fish which can be fished up in Eldermire. It has a resemblance of a white spade from card games. It is a very rare catch, at 1 in 25.

Abyss Carp[]

Family - Carp

The Abyss Carp is a fish that is mainly fished up at Eldermire. It is an epic-tiered fish with having a 1/100 chance of fishing it up, and is in the family of the carps.

Shadow Darter[]

The Shadow Darter is another rare fish, with a 1/100 chance to be caught in Sunhaven. It looks to be like a Darter that has similar colours as Draugr Knights (dark violet and turquoise).

Eldertide Leviathan[]

The Eldertide Leviathan is the rarest fish in fishing (before January 10th, 2026), with very rare chance of getting caught at Eldermire. It looks more like an angler fish than a leviathan, as it has a huge mouth with sharp, razor teeth, and a rounded body, while a leviathan has a long, eel-like body.

The Needlefish is a very dommon fish, with a 1/4 chance of being caught at Sunhaven. It looks just like a light-gray Read Snapper, but with spick needles all over its back.

Boned Sturgeon[]

The boned sturgeon is a fish found in Eldertide, with a 1 in 25 chance of getting. It has the same shape as a mudline perch but its colors are tan and light gray.

Spined Stickleback[]

Bamboo Catfish[]

Family - Catfish

the Bamboo Catfish is a very unique fish, and has a 1/2 chance of being caught at the ship in Gloomtide. It looks similar to the Threadfin Bream, but its body is green, giving its name.

Seahorse[]

An uncommon fish found in sunhaven. 1 out of 4 chance to catch.

Rainbow Guppy[]

A relatively common fish found in Sunhaven, with a rainbow tail.

Moonstone Pupfish[]

Family - Moonfishes

The Moonstone Pupfish is an Ultra Rare fish, at 1 out of 25. It looks like a small Moonfish.

Snakehead[]

The snakehead is a legendary fish (1-10000) green fish found in eldermire (at least in the middle lake). It has a snake-like appearance and its one of the heaviest fish in fishing with the heaviest spotted at 228kg.

Giant Moray[]

Family - Eels

The Giant Moray is an epic-tiered fish, and like the Nomai Moray, it has a 1/100 chance of being caught near the giant rock besides Gloomtide. It looks more like an eel, with it facing down, having a similar structure, and being dark grey in colour.

Giant Stingray[]

Family - Ray

The Giant Stingray is a legendary fish (1-10,000) found in Gloomtide and it looks like a large Boomerang Fish with two eyes.

Mireback Carp[]

Family - Vinefish, Carp

The Mireback Carp is a common fish, with a 1/4 chance, which can be caught in Eldermire. It looks fairly normal, and is like a seaweed-coloured Abyss Carp.

Nomai Moray[]

Family - Eels

The Nomai Moray is a fish that can be caught in Eldermire. It looks like a Purple Maroon-Coloured Eel with three turquoise eyes. It is at Epic rarity, at 1 in 100.

Red Snapper[]

The Red Snapper is a fish found in Gloomtide. It looks like an elongated Among Us character if you flip it upside down.

Reef Sardine[]

The Reef Sardine is one of the very common fish, having a 1/2 chance of being caught, and can be caught mainly at the shore of Gloomtide Island. It looks like a smaller version of the Darter.

Driftwood Catfish[]

Family - Catfish, Driftfish

The Driftwood Catfish is another fairly common fish, also having a 1/4 chance like the Threadfin Bream, and can be caught in Eldermire. It looks fairly similar to its cousin, the Mangler Catfish, but instead of being beige, it is coloured more red-brownish like driftwood, hence its name.

Bull Shark[]

The Bull Shark is one of the rare fishes with a 1/100 chance of being caught. It is similar to both the Stone Grouper and the Barnclejaw, with a down-sloping tail, a few sharp teeth, and a large eye.

Coastal Mullet[]

Family - Grayfish, Finfish

The Coastal Mullet is one of the many fish that have a 1/4 chance to be caught. It looks just like a surfboard, or a dart, due to its triangular shape.

Blackwater Bream[]

The Blackwater Bream is a fish.

Alpha Moon Strongfish[]

Family - Strongfishes, Moonfishes

The Alpha Moon Strongfish is a very rare fish, having only a 1/10000 chance of being caught. It looks like a moon strongfish with white eyes

Blackwater Leviathan[]

The Blackwater Leviathan is one of the rarest fish in the game (1-1.000.000). It looks fairly similar to its cousin, the Eldertide Leviathan, but has black scales and glowing orange eyes.

Channel Sawfish[]

Family - Teethfish

The Channel Sawfish has a similar shape to the Blackwater Bream, but has two large teeth in its mouth. The fish is beige in colour.

Giant Grouper[]

A legendary level rarity fish, at 1/10000, looks like a grouper, but beige in color. It is found in Gloomtide.

Golden Masheer[]

The Golden Masheer is a gold/yellow fish found in Gloomtide. It is quite rare, at 1 in 25.

Game Dev Fish[]

Family - Miscellaneous

The Game Dev Fish is an extremely rare fish which can be caught at Sunhaven. It is a reference to the gamemode’s creator, whoIsEllie.

Shiny Fishes[]

When catching a fish, there is a chance for it to be shiny, where it appears to be enchanted. It sells for more money at the Fishmongers.

Fishes that can be obtained in other game modes[]

Caught Fish[]

The caught fish is currently one of the only fish that can be obtained in game modes other than Fishing. Tamed wildcats that has a friendship level of 2 or more hearts with you will drop caught fish each time you feed them.

Fish Fillet[]

The fish fillet is a food that can be crafted from 2 caught fishes. It is the only fish that can be eaten so far. When the fish fillet is eaten, it give the player the pickpocketing effect, which allows the player to steal items from other players while hitting them.

Trivia[]

You can catch rarer fishes around the Jungle island in the old Fishing.
The Root Flouder Fish is called “Root Flounder” in the source code.
Strong Moonfish and Moonfish are not related, and strong moonfish is a type of strongfish while moonfish is a type of wheatfish.
For some reason, the Boned Sturgeon is censored in chat and code blocks despite it being the item's name (“boned” is what causes the censoring), so you have to use the ID of the item to get it.
The Snakehead seams to be bugged, as it's icon does not show up in chat messages or in your inventory, but when you hold it, it appears perfectly fine. (This glitch is fixed now)
