Leather is an item that was added to the game along with the Horses in the 8/4/2025 update.
Obtaining[]
Each cow will always drop 1 leather when killed. Additionally, leather can also be “smelted” from one rotten flesh (dropped by zombies) and one coal using the furnace.
Usage[]
Leathers can be used to craft saddles which enable you to ride horses. They can also be crafted into mob catchers, which allow you to “store” tamed mobs in them.
